Medical Breakthroughs: First to Know

The way we at Ivanhoe like to celebrate the year is to recognize some of our stories that inspired us the most. We call them “People Power 2015” and you might enjoy watching them! This year there are six that stood out but the truth is we love all our stories.
     Watch our Medical Headline Videos:
  •      Dr Edward Burton, MD, FRCP, Associate Professor of Neurology at UPMC is among a team of researchers working on a way to slow down the progression of Parkinson’s disease. It involves gene therapy and he thinks they have found the key piece in the puzzle.
  •      Did you know elephants almost never get cancer? Read our report from Salt Lake City with Dr Josh Schiffman, MD, Professor of Pediatrics and Investigator at Huntsman Cancer IInstitute, University of Utah.
  •      New cutting edge technology is guiding neurosurgeons in the operating room to remove brain tumors. Dr Orin Block, MD, Neurosurgeon at Northwestern University, Feinberg School of Medicine says it “will hopefully revolutionize the way we treat these kinds of tumors.”
Getting one knee or both knees replaced at the same time is a tough question and Drs James Hall, MD and John Cush, MD, have some good advice.
Cronkhite Canada Syndrome is something lots of people don’t know about but maybe they should. Read our full length interview with Dr William Sandborn, MD, Chief of the Division of Gastroenterology at UC San Diego to know more.
In case you missed them, you may want to check our past reports, Premium Content in Archives Premium Content in ArchivesSurprising Ways to Get Cavities Premium Content in ArchivesEarly Choices Prevent Alzheimer’s . Premium Content in the Archives may be purchased for as little as $9 for 24-hour, unlimited access. If you would like to access Premium Content for the first time click here.
Finally, Lisa Ann McCall in Bend, Oregon has spent years giving patients physical therapy and she has developed her own unique healing approach.
Thanks to everyone who responded to our last First to Know with support. It means a lot to us to know you value what we do.
And there's more where that came from...
